Mary Joanne Bretthauer was born in Roy, Oregon on September 26th, 1921, to her parents, Julius and Helena Peerenboom. She was the youngest of 7 siblings and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1941. She married the love of her life, Ab, when she was 25, on a beautiful fall day in 1946. Together, they raised their two daughters, Pam and Diana. Mary worked at Tektronix in Beaverton and Rodger's Organ Company in Hillsboro. She was also a breast cancer survivor.
One of the most important things in Mary's life was the time she spent with family. At every family gathering you could find her sitting back and smiling at the fun being had by her many grandchildren. Her home was the site of family baseball games, BBQs, holidays, and birthdays, and her joy was feeding everyone who walked through her door regardless of who you were or how well she knew you. One of her many legacies was how she taught her family to can and preserve in her own little garage. But her biggest legacy by far was how she loved and served those around her with kindness and joy, all the days of her life.
Mary is survived by her two daughters, one son-in-law, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
