Mary Lillian Hodson

March 4, 1927 — June 24, 2011

Mary Lillian (Evans) Hodson age 84 of Cornelius died in Hillsboro June 24.
Mary was born Mar. 4, 1927 in The Dalles, OR to Thomas and Vera (Morse) Evans.
On Nov. 21, 1945 she married Robert Earl. This marriage ended in divorce.
Mary married Gyle Welles Hodson June 6, 1979 and was sealed to Gyle Aug. 21, 1982 at the Seattle LDS Temple.
Mary was preceded in death by her brothers Howard Blair, Raymond Blair, Daniel Blair, William Blair, & Billy Urie and sister Afton Blair.
Mary worked in the turkey processing plant in West Salem, OR, Sawyers which became GAF in Beaverton, the IRS Dept. in Hillsboro and the OHSU Crippled Children's Division in Portland.
She was active in several organizations including the Martin J. Ryan Post # 2666 VFW Aux. where she held several positions including publicity chairman and secretary.
Mary and Gyle served a 2 year proxy mission to the Seattle Temple. Mary attained her GED in 1976. She took creative writing and business machine courses at PCC. She has written several short stories and was published in the "Stars & Stripes" paper. She has a language and writing tutor.
Many of the neighborhood children loved Mary and called her grandma.
Survivors are husband Gyle Hodson, daughters Kristina Evans Carr, Burma Earl and Gail Martyn; son Ray Earl; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral service at 11 AM Monday June 27, 2011 Farmington Ward LDS Chapel in Beaverton.
Interment at Valley Memorial Park in Hillsboro on Wed. June 29, 2011.
Memorial Contributions to The LDS Missionary Fund or LDS Disaster Relief Fund.
Hospital.
She was active in several organizations including the Martin J. Ryan VFW Post # 266
