Mary "Christina" Losli

Chris Losli passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019 after spending the day surrounded by her family. Chris, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend was loved by many who surrounded her throughout her life and in her last days.
Chris was born January 1, 1933 on her family’s homestead in Gillette, Wyoming. Her parents Harry Johnson and Candace Clapman Johnson raised her and her two brothers on the homestead until 1943 when they moved to Vanport, Oregon. The Johnson family moved to Hillsboro, OR after their home was destroyed in the Vanport flood of 1948.
In the fall of 1951 Chris graduated from Hillsboro High School, and started working at First National Bank. Her romance with her husband, Wesley Losli, began when she asked him to skate at the Shute Park Roller Rink, in the fall of 1951. They were married on May 31, 1952, enjoying 67 years happily married. Their first son, Jonathon, was born in 1954; followed by Lorraine in 1956; and Joy in 1964. After Jonathon was born, Chris quit her job at the bank and focused on raising their family, because this was her most important job in life.
Chris was a strong woman who loved the Lord. She lived her life as an example to those around her as a woman of God. She was strong of character, had a joyful spirit, and loved her family. Chris was creative and loved to paint, craft, arrange flowers, and decorate her home for holidays.
Chris and Wes loved spending time together bike riding, taking trips to the Oregon coast, traveling the world on cruises, craft bazaars, and spending time with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Chris had a passion for supporting the American Diabetes Association. She participated in the Step Out for Diabetes fundraiser multiple years along with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, to support diabetes research. Chris battled diabetes for 62 years.
She was survived in death by her husband Wesley E. Losli, her brothers Ray and Harriet Johnson and Bob and Gerdie Johnson; her children Jonathon Losli in Astoria, Lorraine and David Ferguson in Hillsboro, and Joy and Maurice Scratcher in Hillsboro; and 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hope Fellowship Church (5215 SE Golden Road, Hillsboro, OR 97123) on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 2:00 PM.
