Mavis Carolyn Barnhart

Mavis Carolyn (Hutchinson) Barnhart passed away at the age of 96, on January 19, 2024 at Valley House in Castle Rock, Colorado.
Mavis was born in Reardon, Washington September 7, 1927. She was the 4th of 7 Children born to Agness and Hugh Hutchinson.
Before the age of 3 she moved with her family to Spokane where she grew up with her siblings; Evelyn, Warren, Lorraine, Ruth, Wayne and Dwayne. She attended Arlington Elementary School and John Rodgers High School.
Mavis worked at the Fern Ice Cream Parlor, Babysat, sold subscriptions to the Island Empire Newspaper, and worked at Hyde Secretarial Services. Mavis later worked for Dunn and Bradstreet in Spokane and transferred to Portland, Oregon where she worked until she retired. While in Oregon Mavis met Harold Barnhart. They were married at her parents' home in Spokane, Washington and lived in Portland and Beaverton until they moved to Castle Rock, Colorado in 1985. They lived at Valley House together until he passed in February 2017.
Mavis continued living at Valley House where she was lovingly cared for by the staff and Harold's niece, Pam Orr.
Mavis is survived by a sister, Ruth Hitchcock of Lake Grove, Oregon and a brother, Dwayne Hutchinson of Deer Park, Washington. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, grand and great grand nephews and nieces and many friends.
Mavis was a blessing to all who knew her and was loved by her family and friends.
A memorial service was held for Mavis at Valley House on January 22, 2024.

Mavis will be laid to rest at Valley Memorial Park in Hillsboro, Oregon.
