Melba Bretthaur, born in Holly, Colo., died Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015, at the age of 84. Melba moved to Banks with her family when she was a small child. She grew up and married in Banks, then moved to Hillsboro where she lived and raised her family. Melba was active in the church community of St. Matthew Catholic Church and worked as a bookkeeper for an insurance company until her retirement. Melba was predeceased by her husband, Don Bretthauer, and all of her siblings. Melba had moved to New Jersey last September to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She enriched their lives greatly in the short time she was with them and they are forever grateful for the gift of that time together.Melba is lovingly remembered by her children, Bill Cop, Jackie Welter, Christina Goodrich and Vernon Willey; grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
