Olive Newman, 94, of Cornelius, passed away on June 9th.
She was born on the 4th of July, 1925 in Kenmare North Dakota, the 4th of 7 children of August and Laura Johnson.
Olive married John Newman on May 6th, 1945. They lived in Hillsboro, and then Cornelius. She was a wonderful homemaker and Mother of three children. She was active in her church, and volunteered at Good Shephard Economy Center in Cornelius for many years. Olive loved to sew, making blankets, wall hangings, holiday decorations, and even clothing for the boys. Flowers and gardening was a passion she shared with her husband. They were constantly working and improving their beautiful landscaping.
She is survived by sister Marilyn Ross, sons David and wife Cherry, Dennis and wife Carol, Charles (Chuck) and wife Rose, three Grandchildren and two Great-grandchildren.
Olive was preceded in death by husband John, brothers Lester, Donald, Darold, sisters Helen and Margie.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Olive’s memory to St Peters Lutheran Church in Cornelius.
