Patrick Elton Saalsaa passed away suddenly in Hillsboro, OR, on Thursday November 19th 2020 at 54 years of age from complications due to a recurring illness. Patrick will be remembered for his wry and dry sense of humor, his willingness to step in to help others, and for being an outspoken champion for his children, Emalie, Averie, Gracie, Maddie, and Lexi. One of the people in his life that he loved without limits was his mom, Patricia (Machado). He is also survived by his brothers Rich (Theresa) and David, his sisters Cecilia (Boyer), Joan (Robbins), and Mary, nephews Travis Boyer (Cecilia) and Will Saalsaa (David), nieces Cade Saalsaa (Rich), Cari Hill (Joan), Lea (Cecilia), Cassi (Cecilia), Olivia (David), Chloe (David), Lilli (Mary), and Hazel (Mary), grand-nephew Rylan (Cari), and grand-nieces Abrielle (Cari), Ella (Lea), Evelyn, (Lea), and Grey (Cade). He joins his dad, Richard, his nephew Matt (Rich), and a host of other relatives that have gone before him in the next phase of life. The family also acknowledges the mothers of Patrick’s children and his former spouses Tami and Drea for raising some extraordinary children.
Patrick was born on October 6th, 1966 to Richard and Patricia at Mercy Hospital in Sacramento. Patrick attended St. Charles Borromeo, Parkway Elementary, Fern Bacon JHS, and Burbank High – all in Sacramento. He joined the Navy in May of 1987 and served until his honorable discharge in May of 1991. He had a total of one year, one month, and one day at sea, mostly on the carrier the USS Nimitz (CVN-68), while he was based at Miramar NAS, California. Patrick married Tami (Robbins) in 1989 and had four children: Emalie, and the triplets Averie, Gracie, and Maddie. Emalie is currently working in the financial sector in San Diego and Gracie is living with her pursuing schooling, Averie is living in Oregon with an aunt, and (Pvt) Maddie is in the US Army, currently in training to be an MP. Patrick married Drea (Job) in 2010 and had one child, Lexi, who is living with her mom in Chico, CA. Patrick was divorced at the time of his death. Patrick held numerous supervisory positions from managing road construction crews, to dispatching equipment for construction and beverage companies after his discharge from the Navy. Patrick was child number five in a field of six children, he cut a very unique path in life, and he was fast friends with many people from his childhood, through adulthood, and from business. He will be sorely missed, as Patrick was a very unique man – the mold was broken after he was born.
Be not afraid, I go before you always. Come, follow me, and I will give you rest.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Due to the current COVID conditions and restrictions, there will not be a public service at this time. Patrick has been cremated and his ashes will be placed in the care of his children. Please pray for Patrick and his family and you are welcome to leave comments here. Thank you from his family.
