Peggy Louise Winegar

Peggy Winegar passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. She was born in Castle Rock, Washington, the daughter of Joseph and Nina Bebe. From the age of 8 she lived with her grandmother Mrs. A. Sievers until she graduated from high school. She was united in marriage to Victor Winegar on Nov. 4, 1945 in Monmouth Oregon, where they both attended Western Oregon University. They moved to Hillsboro in September 1947 where she resided until her death. Mrs. Winegar was a 5th grade teacher at Brookwood Elementary School for 23 years before retiring in Jan. 1987. She also worked summers at the outdoor swimming pool in Hillsboro for many years. She was involved with Cub Scout Pack 543 as a den mother for 14 years. She was a member of the Hillsboro Christian Church, Tuality Hospital Auxiliary, and volunteered on the TLC van over 3600 hrs. She also belonged to PEO Chapter EF. Mrs. Winegar enjoyed traveling, especially with her grandchildren. She loved outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, swimming, snow skiing, and water skiing. She was most fond of activities with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor in May 1993, and her two sisters . She is survived by her 4 sons , Victor "Skip"(Linda) of Beaverton, Steve (Doris) of Tualatin, Scott (Beth) of St. Helens, and Rick "Sande" (Sue) of Ocala, Florida; eight grandchildren, Traci (Todd) Hansberry, Lori (Jeff) Harris, Sara (Matt) Budge, Ben (Danielle) Winegar, Joshua Winegar, Miriam Winegar, Jenny Winegar, and Joey (Josh) Aranyos; nine great-grandchildren, Jack and Ryan Hansberry, Ian and Calla Harris, Archer Budge, Sean Flick and Brieana Shuping, and Zack and Jacob Aranyos; brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Ginny Rexford of Kelso, Washington. A Celebration of Peggy's Life will be held Thursday, July 19 at 11:00 am at the Hillsboro Christian Church, 540 E Edison.
