Raymond was born at the old Jones Hospital in Hillsboro to Henry and Edna Schulenberg. Be- ing raised on the farm atop Iowa Hill, he attended both the Iowa Hill and the St. Pet- er's Lutheran one-room schools through the eighth grade. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1950. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Blooming. He served in various capacities in the church to the very last moment.He served stateside in the Army from 1953 to 1955. He contributed more then greatly helping on the family farm until his father's passing in 1962 and moved from there in 1967 to Hillsboro. A- long with picking strawberries at Uncle John Koehnke's farm as a youngster, as we all did, he then helped many neighbors in the hills, neighbors in the valleys and current neighbors at his home all through the years. He at one time worked on the replanting of the Tillamook burn area.He is survived by his brother, Bill Schulenberg; sisters, Ernie Francisco, Joanne Kendall and Virginia Foster; many nieces and nephews; and their grandchildren.A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2014, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 4265 S.W. Golf Course Road, Cornelius. The family suggests remembrances be contributed to St. Peter's Lutheran Church memorial fund.
