Richard W. Berg

August 1, 1931 — April 20, 2018

Richard W. Berg was born August 1, 1931 in Tacoma, Washington. Son of Marvin and Nellie Berg. He grew up and received his education in Everett, Washington. He worked for GTE in Washington & transferred to Oregon to work for the Central Office Installation Department. After 35 years he retired from GTE and started his own company, Sunset Tele, as a contractor he did installation and maintenance for Washington County Courthouse for 12 years.



He was united in marriage to Peggy Jo Aleshire, August 15, 1964 in Hillsboro, Oregon. Survivors include his wife Peggy Jo, daughter Michelle Jones, sons Michael Berg, Jonathan Aleshire, James Aleshire and daughter-in-law Patti Aleshire, grandson’s Brandon & Gerod Aleshire. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Roy.



Peggy and Berg built their home in Hillsboro in 1969 and resided there until recently moving to Cornell Estates Community in Hillsboro, Oregon on April 4, 2018.



Berg’s hobby was restoring old cars to showmanship perfection. He loved Fords, especially Mustangs. He loved boats and had several including a sail boat. The San Juan Islands was his playground. He loved boating, fishing, and hunting with numerous friends and family. He didn’t know a stranger and visited and helped people who were sick, hospitalized or lonely. He was a life long member of the Elks and the Eagles.
