Rick Lane Richmond

Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather Rick L. Richmond passed away Nov. 21st, 2023 at St Vincent's Hospital after a courageous two year battle with cancer. He was carried away to his heavenly home by his precious savior Jesus Christ.

Rick was born in Sandpoint, Idaho on May 7th, 1949 to his parents Emma Lucille and Jerrold Richmond. He grew up in the Coeur d'Alene Idaho area graduating from Post Falls High School in 1968. As a child, he loved to run free in the woods of Idaho playing soldiers and fishing.

Rick had a long and dedicated career with Via Systems (now TTM) in Forest Grove OR for 43 years and eleven months (retiring in October of 2021) managing quality control systems including documentation and training. His coworkers trusted and depended on his ability to solve problems as well as his wide range of knowledge. Rick loved his job. He easily made everyone realize their importance. He had a quick wit and brought sunshine to every place he entered with his positive attitude.

When he wasn’t playing golf, Rick could be found working in his yard designing and building pergolas, lanais and all manner of projects. He was an avid flower gardener. He loved mentoring youth through his church and coached youth in the Hillsboro Soccer Club for five years.

Rick was first and foremost a man of God. He loved the Lord with all his heart. His faith focused him on seeing the beauty in everything and everyone. He always made himself available whenever family or friends were in need of help. Rick adored his children and grandchildren, and he loved to offer words of wisdom to guide them through life. He ended each day praying the Lord's protection over each one of them.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lynn Richmond. He is survived by his wife, Susan Richmond of Hillsboro, OR; daughters, Pam Pearce (Curtis) of Astoria, OR and Jennifer Welch (Keith) of Newberg and stepdaughter Molly Hoover (Jeromey) of Rio Rancho NM; Stepsons Matthew Smith of Las Cruces NM and Ray Smith of Albuquerque NM; grandsons, Sean Duncan (wife Becky and great grandchildren Shane and Sierra) of Hillsboro OR and Joe Welch (wife Hailey and great grandchild Jackson) of Portland OR, granddaughters; Kayla Metje (husband Cole and great grandchild Rally), Krysta and Jessica Welch of Newberg OR, Sarah Duncan of Astoria OR, Ryder, Ally, Hunter and Skylynn of Rio Rancho NM, and Hailey, Matthew Jr. and Alice of Las Cruces NM.

Rick is also survived by brothers Ron Richmond (Juanita) of Enumclaw Washington, Mike Richmond of Redmond OR and sister Kearon Richmond of Prineville OR as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Fir Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 1070 West Main St. Hillsboro, OR 97123. Viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Ron Richmond will officiate. Rick will be laid to rest at the Fir Lawn Memorial Park.
