Robert N. Burgess of Hillsboro died Sat. Oct. 19, 2013 of a heart attack following surgery at Tuality Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Doneen, a son Leonard and his wife Nancy and grandchildren David, Sarah and Ben Burgess.
Robert was born Oct 25, 1931 in Adel, Iowa. He was eleven when the family moved to Oregon. Robert delivered the Argus in Hillsboro in the 1940's. He attended Hilhi when it was still at 8th and Lincoln St. He joined the army Feb. 1951. He served a year in Korea. Bob served as an MP while stationed at Camp Stoneman, near Pittsburg, Cal., until Feb 1954 when he received an Honorable Discharge.
In 1954 Bob worked for Ben Faber electric, installing and servicing water pumps in 1966, he worked for PACO pumps until he retired end of Jan. 1997 working irrigation and sewage pumps, during the time he served as Scout master of troop 240 in mid 70s. In the 90's Bob directed the Sunshine Class. It was church for mentally and physically impaired adult at First Baptist Church of Aloha.
The past few years, he and his wife have been attending Alliance Bible Church where there will be a memorial service. Date has not been determined yet.
