Rosa Caballero Jones was the youngest of eleven children born to Miguel and Dolores Caballero. She was born in Fresno, California on March 25, 1961 and died peacefully on March 1, 2017 surrounded by her seven sisters and husband Mark Jones following an illness. Rosa lived in Hillsboro since 1969 when her family moved to Oregon. Rosa was passionate about children, and became the favorite "Ta Rosie" or auntie for her many nieces and nephews and several would later consider her their surrogate grandma.
Rosa worked for the Washington County Sheriff's Office for several years and for the State of Oregon as a Child Protective Service Social Worker where she worked to protect children from abuse and neglect. Rosa was an avid reader, kept up with current events, and loved debating politics with her many siblings and brothers in law. She met her husband Mark Jones in 1993 and the two married in 2005 and made their home in Aloha. Rosa and Mark's home became the hub for family holidays and for nieces and nephews who needed a place to stay.
She is preceded in death by her parents Miguel and Dolores Caballero, and two brothers, Ernest and Gabriel Caballero. She is survived by her loving husband Mark Jones, her brother Michael, and sisters Velia Galindo, Frances Quesada, Maria Caballero Rubio, Norma Caballero Lopez, Carolina Caballero Perkins, Silvia Caballero Fay, and Martha Caballero, five brothers-in law, Albert, Lorenzo, Russell, Jesus and Brad; and 22 nieces and nephews, 41 grandnieces and nephews.
