Roy Wilhelm Wold

MSG (Ret) Roy Wilhelm Wold, 89, passed away December 13, 2016. Roy was born November 12, 1927, in Portland, Oregon, the son of Wilhelm and Margaret Wold. Roy attended elementary schools in Dayton and Shadybrook School near North Plains, and graduated from Hillsboro High School in June 1946. He enlisted in the US Army and served in the occupation of Japan and was discharged in 1948. He enlisted again in December 1950 in the Oregon Army National Guard as charter member of the 722d AA Battalion in Portland and transitions to Btry D 3rdBN 249th AAA, Co D 1249th Eng Bn, and 162d Eng Co, Lake Oswego, where he retired in 1977. He married Marjorie Ilene Persons, September 16, 1951, in Shadybrook and moved to North Plains, Oregon with his wife and eldest son in 1953. Roy was a long-time employee of Montgomery Ward, he retired in 1976 upon closure of the NW Portland store/distribution center. Roy was a loving father, and grandfather. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Ruth Nelson, brother Ray and wife of 63 years, Marjorie. He is survived by his sister Wilma (Don) Woodward of Salem, Oregon; sons Lyle (Terri) of North Plains, Oregon; David (Robin) of Vernonia, Oregon; and Eric of North Plains, Oregon, and daughters Holly (Charles) Guetling of Evansville, Indiana, and Heidi Huettl of North Plains, Oregon, as well as 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Roy was a lifelong member of the Washington Grange, and supported Disabled American Veterans, VFW, OPB, Sierra Club, and R.S.V.P.
Interment will be at Arcade Cemetery.

A military graveside service and celebration of life will be held at a future date.
