Ruben Firro Talavera was born August 19, 1937 to Juan Talavera and Enriquetta Talavera in Fort Davis, Texas. He grew up in the surrounding area, where he became an experienced carpenter. He married the love of his life, Socorro Silvas on May 18, 1958. They lived in Monhans, Texas.
In 1970, Ruben and Socorro moved to Oregon, where they would raise their seven children. Ruben built his home in Cornelius and would go on to work with migrant housing projects to help families in Cornelius and North Plains own their own homes. He enjoyed his family, working on construction projects, reading the Bible and sharing God's love.
He is survived by his brothers Alvino Talavera, Dallas, Texas, Cresencio Talavera, Odessa, Texas, Alberto Talavera, Monahans Texas, Sisters Teresa Olivas, Fort Davis, Texas and Irene Flores, North Plains, Oregon, wife Socorro Talavera, Cornelius, Oregon, son Ruben Talavera, Jr., Beaverton, Oregon, daughters Enriquetta Ortiz of Scappoose, Oregon, Patricia Ortiz, St. Helens, Oregon, Joann S. Talavera, Hillsboro, Oregon, Dianna Anderson, Cornelius, Oregon, Lorianna Talavera, Cornelius, Oregon, Cathy Talavera, Cornelius, Oregon, 24 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
