Longtime Hillsboro resident, Ruby Annette Romero, 63 passed away from cancer at her home in Hillsboro on August 6, 2022.
Ruby was born February 15, 1959, to John A. & Frances R. (Ortiz) Romero in Del Norte, CO. She received her high school diploma and furthered her education by becoming an Electrical Engineer. She moved to Oregon in 1982 and to Hillsboro in 1994 and had worked as an electrician for 33 years and was a member of the IBEW Local 48. Ruby was employed for 25 years at Oregon Electric, and she was the founder and partner with Key Electrical from which she retired in 2020.
Ruby was preceded in death by her mother, Frances and sister, Cori. She is survived by her wife, Kimberly Smythe of Hillsboro, OR; father, John Romero of Hillsboro, OR; nephews, Johnny and Brandon; nieces, Shilo and Kylie; and numerous additional family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ruby’s memory to the Providence Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 3375, Portland, OR 97208.
A celebration of Ruby’s life will be held at a future date to be announced.
