Shirley (Moulton) Okeson passed away August 9, 2018 after a long illness. Shirley was born in Seattle Washington on November 11,1938 to parents Hugh and Lois Moulton. She went to high school in Grants Pass Oregon and then on to nursing school at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland. She married Reinard Okeson and they had two children, Celene and Lance. She loved nursing in small hospitals, where she was able to care for all kinds of patients and do a little bit of everything. She loved the outdoors, and spent free time fishing, camping, and rafting with her family and their many friends. She travelled extensively, to Alaska, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Israel, England, and all over Europe. Later in life she took up photography, quilting, and genealogy, researching her family tree in detail and teaching genealogy in community education classes. She was unfailingly kind and always saw the best in people. She is survived by her husband Reinard, sister Leslie Arlene Moulton, her children Celene and Lance, and her three grandchildren Tage, Chance, and Tessa. A celebration of life was held on September 8, 2018. Memorial remembrances may be made to the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute.
