Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, Shirley Selberg passed away on September 23, 2022. She was 87.
Shirley is survived by her son Ken Selberg and his wife Jennifer, her daughter Connie Settle and her husband Greg, granddaughter Jenna Selberg and fiancé Andrew, granddaughter Auna Duro and husband John, brother-in-law Pat Selberg, nieces Sandy, Sherry, Kathy and their families, and her two cats.
Shirley was born in Lenora, Oklahoma March 11, 1935, and at a young age crossed the country to Oregon, growing up in Hillsboro and graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1953.
She was married to the love of her life, Robert Selberg, for almost 59 years, whom she met at a party where he asked her the time and they ended up talking all night.
Shirley and Robert married on March 10,1956. The couple spent time in Germany while Robert was in the Army, before returning back to Hillsboro. After adopting their 2 children, Kenneth and Connie, they settled into a hobby farm and the fun truly began. Few farm animals were missed where the family raised chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, cows, pigs, dogs, cats, and fish. Always kind to animals, Shirley welcomed stray animals that came her way.
Shirley’s career of more than 25 years at Tektronix started as a Secretary. With her determination, continuing education at Marylhurst College, and encouragement from peers, she retired from her position as a Purchasing Manager.
In retirement, Shirley and Bob enjoyed 20 years in the B.P.O.E. on Wheels Camper Club where they met amazing friends with whom they explored Oregon and Washington. Shirley and Bob expanded their motorhome wanderlust joining various Camper Clubs, traveling throughout Canada, Mexico, and the United States (including Alaska).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Oregon Dog Rescue in Tualatin, Oregon.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:30 am, Friday, October 28, 2022, at Golden Valley Brewery in Beaverton.
