Thaddeus Dean Fair
August 25, 1933 — April 24, 2022
Thad passed away at OHSU Hospital in Portland Oregon on April 24, 2022, at the age of 88 following an accident at his home in Forest Grove, Or. He and his wife Virginia of 55 years were longtime residents of Garibaldi, Oregon Coast, and more recently Forest Grove, Oregon.
Thad was born in Marysville, Ohio to Dean A Fair and Doris W Hines. He is 2nd of 3 siblings, Gloria Thoreson and Keith Fair who preceded him in death. As well as Uncle Wayne Hines & wife Elizabeth of Chehalis WA. Uncle Lloyd Hines & Margaret of Alaska, Aunt Arlene & husband John (Jack) Reed all of Ohio.
We will remember Thad for his warm generous heart, and quick smile and laugh that would light up the room. Throughout his life he enjoyed challenges and adventures. He was a man of industry and big dreams.
Thad’s professional life spanned over 60 years, all of which were in the rubber industry. He traveled the country during his career setting up production shops in Washington, Indiana and Southern California before settling in Hillsboro, Or in 1979. He started out retreading tires and progressed to all types of gaskets. The largest which were seals for the dams and navigational locks. He was owner of company Seals Unlimited in Hillsboro, OR.
His hobbies included love of gardening, fishing, and hanging out with his many friends.
He enjoyed commercial fishing off Tillamook Bay in Garibaldi, OR where he had a residence for over 30 years. He would go out in the ocean for tuna, salmon, and lingcod. He also fished in adventurous places such as Costa Rica for sail fish and Alaska for salmon.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Fair; son, Darwin Fair (spouse) Annie and granddaughter Jordan; son ,Myron Fair; granddaughter, Erin Fair/Porter Williams; great granddaughter, Aria & Elora Williams; grandson, Christopher (Kit) Fair/Rachel and great grandson, Ronan as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins some of them preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022 at the Fir Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 1070 West Main St. Hillsboro, OR 97123 Inurnment will occur at the Claquato Cemetery in Chehalis, WA, date to be determined.
