Thelma (Fitzgerald) Hartsock
March 4, 1907-December 13, 2015
Thelma Dean (Fitzgerald) Hartsock died Sunday, December 13, of natural causes at the age of 108 years, nine months, and nine days.
She was born march 4, 1907 to Ilas "Lee" Evans and Annabelle Kilgore Evans in Goldendale, Washington. When she was 2, they moved to La Center. In 1911, when she was 4, they moved to Vancouver, where she lived for 96 years. After turning 100, she moved to Hillsboro, Oregon to be near her grandchildren.
Thelma married Louis Fitzgerald in 1927. They had two daughters, Susan and Mary. Louis died in 1966. In 1977, she married Perry "Brick" Hartsock. He died in 1984.
She held several jobs over the years, finally retiring in 1972 after 20 years in banking.
Thelma had a wide circle of friends and beloved family. She stayed active, bowling in leagues for decades and golfing into her 80's. She was rarely illflu in 1918 and 2007and was a 40-year cancer survivor. Her secret was a positive attitude: "Make the best of it."
She was predeceased by four siblings and her daughter Mary. She is survived by her daughter Susan Jones-Nelson (Lon) of Redmond, Oregon; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held in Vancouver at a later date.
