Val Dennis Miller

Val Dennis Miller, a resident of Portland, died on March 29, 2017 in Portland. He was 73 years of age.

Val was born on February 25, 1944 in Portland, Oregon and was the son of Valentine and Agnes (Eggiman) Miller. He grew up in Portland where he attended Kenton Elementary School and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1962. He went on to complete two years at Oregon State University. In 1964, he enlisted in the Oregon Army National Guard where he served as a medic with HHC, 41st Infantry Brigade. He received an honorable discharge in 1970.

On October 24, 1998, he married Peggy Smith in Forest Grove. He worked in sales for both Broyhill and Proctor Silex and also worked with various screen printing companies throughout the Portland Metro Area. He was a manager at Mid-West Sign & Screen Printing Supply and was a Past President of the PNSPA-Pacific Northwest Screenprinting Association. He retired in 2009.

Val was a car guy and owned a 1987 GMC Caballero that received a Class Winner award at the 2017 Roadster Show. He was the President of the Westside Cruisers Car Club. He also enjoyed boating and camping. He had 32 years of sobriety, which he used to mentor and help others who needed encouragement and support.

Val is survived by his wife, Peggy, daughter, Kimberly Pool and brother, Gary Miller.

A celebration of Val's Life will be on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Donelson Funeral Chapel. Contributions may be made in memory of Val to: Providence St. Vincent Medical Foundation, Center for Advanced Heart Disease, 9205 SW Barnes Road, Portland, OR 97225.
