Violet Pauline Bentley

September 8, 1918 — September 27, 2013

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, October 6 in the chapel of Donelson- Fir Lawn Memorial Center, 1070 W. Main in Hillsboro. Violet passed away on September 27, 2013 at the age of 95. Mrs. Bentley was born to John and Mary Loomer on September 8, 1918 in Clearmont, Missouri, the 3rd of 5 children. The family moved by train to Oregon when Violet was 8 years old. She graduated from Hillsboro High in 1937 and was married to Elbert William Bentley on Easter Sunday, April 17, 1938. They had four children: Carol Newsom, Nancy Farmer, Daniel Bentley and Mary Naive. Violet was always a hard worker, whether picking berries with her kids, working at Teufel's Oregon Roses or in school food service. However, her family was her greatest love and passion. She and Elbert shared a strong, enduring faith in Christ and were lifelong members of the Hillsboro Christian Church. He preceded her in death in 2001. She is survived by one brother, Harold Loomer, all four children, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
