Vivian Grace Lucas, 97, of North Plains passed away September 16 peacefully in her home.
She was born north of Hillsboro in unincorporated Washington County to Guy and Emma Weisenbach on January 28, 1923, the sixth of seven children.
Vivian grew up on Mason Hill on her Grandparent's Wheeler farm that was managed by her Father and later moved a couple miles further up the Hill to her Father's new farm in the late 1930's. During that time, she attended Jackson School, Hillsboro High School and graduated from Clatskanie High School.
Vivian met Wilburn Lucas shortly after he and his parents moved to Mason Hill from Portland in 1938. They were wed September 13, 1941 and purchased their own farm there and lived the remainder of their years raising livestock, strawberries and harvesting timber.
During this time, Vivian was also a Teacher's Aid at North Plains Elementary and held that position for 22 years until 1987.
Vivian loved the outdoors, gardening, crochet, needlepoint and rockhounding. She was a loving mother, aunt and grandmother and adored by her family and friends.
Survivors include her three sons, Robert (Mary) of Prineville, Jonathan (Anna Marie) of Cornelius and Eric (Annette) of North Plains, eight Grandchildren, fifteen Great-grandchildren, two Great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will take place September 25 at Donelson Funeral Chapel in Hillsboro. Private interment will take place at Fir Lawn Memorial on September 26.
