Walter Billy Olinger, August 11, 1928 - Feb 12, 2014. He is generally known as Bill Olinger. He was the second child born to Walt and Ella Olinger in Toledo, Oregon. The family moved to Vernonia, Oregon where he was raised and graduated from Vernonia High School.After high school Bill married Dorothy, started a long business career and a family. The first business was a Shell service station where the family lived in the back of the station. That was followed by a Vernonia Ford dealership, a Hillsboro Mercury and Jeep dealership, and Portland Lincoln-Mercury and RV dealerships. Bill passed away February 12th of natural causes at 85 years. He was preceded in death by his brother Bob and by his wife Dorothy. He is survived by his wife Lily.
He is also survived by three sons, Roland, Kyle, Tad and by daughter Kelli Wilson. There are 8 grand children, 10 great grand children and 2 great great grand children. Bill was an avid flyer who lived on Olinger field North West of Hillsboro. He developed the airfield for like minded pilots that wanted to have their airplane at home. Residents built homes with airplane hangers attached to their house. Bill had many different airplanes over the years.Bill built a second home in Palm Desert California that they would fly to whenever they could get away.
