It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Warren Mark Olson, age 64, on December 14th, 2022. His passing was unexpected and unforeseen, and his family and friends are deeply grieving this loss.
Warren was born on December 24th, 1957 in Rapid City, South Dakota, to Phyllis and Thomas Olson. He received his undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Mathematics at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He later moved to Los Angeles, where he began his career at Hughes Aircraft before meeting his wife, Debbie Olson. In 1990, the two of them migrated north to Portland, Oregon, where Warren had a a fulfilling career as a computer science engineering manager at Intel.
Throughout his career, Warren worked tirelessly to achieve personal progress and success, as well as helping his colleagues succeed. He played a crucial role in defining compute service for Intel design engineering worldwide, when leading teams responsible for establishing os standards for design. Warren was also known for his willingness to lend a helping hand and offer guidance to those around him, and his positive influence was felt by many. His dedication to their growth and development was evident in everything he did, and his impact on the careers and lives of those around him will not be forgotten.
In his retirement, Warren dedicated himself fully to following his passions and enjoying the fruits of his hard work. He was an avid photographer and enjoyed capturing the beauty of the world around him through his lens. He was also a talented musician and spent countless hours honing his skills on the guitar. In addition to his artistic pursuits, Warren was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed building speakers and working on cars in his spare time. His passion for these hobbies brought him great joy, and he was always eager to share his skills and knowledge with others.
But above all, Warren was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband to Debbie and a devoted father to his daughter, Elizabeth (Lizzy) Olson. His kind and generous spirit, love of life, and devotion to those he loved will always be remembered. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A service in Warren's honor will be held on January 8th at 3:00 PM in Beaverton, Oregon. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Debbie, Lizzy, and all of Warren's loved ones during this difficult time. Warren will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
