Wayne Lee Valburg was born on May 28, 1927, on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in White River, South Dakota to Otillia and Lee Valburg. In 1934, the family moved to Vancouver, WA. Wayne graduated from Battle Ground High School and worked in the ship yards.
During WWII, he was an Army Medic aboard the USS Marine Jumper, a troop transport. In 1947, Wayne married Lois Sahnow, whom he met at summer church camp, and they began their 44 year life together.
Wayne was the consummate salesman, and his business career included the Marshall Wells Hardware Co. from 1947-1959, 20 years with Union Supply Co., and 14 years with King Bearing Co. and Bearings Inc.
Wayne's passion was music and singing. He performed with barbershop quartets, church choirs, & the Westside Singers (previously known as the Forest Grove Gleemen & Girls) for 62 years.
In 1996, he married Mary Evelyn Thompson. Wayne is survived by his children Kristin (and husband Gary) Rauh and Mitchell (and wife Mary) Valburg, stepdaughter Shannon (and husband Tom) Tsui, Dina (and husband Rob) Landoll; grandchildren Justin (and wife Kacy) Rauh, Adam (and wife Kristen) Rauh, Claire (and husband Nick) Engel, Abby (and husband Greg) Bleckler, Linden and Gabriel Tsui, and Sarah Parkinson; and his beloved great-granddaughter Malia Rauh. His family were his greatest treasures.
He was preceded in death by Lois Valburg in 1992, and by Mary Evelyn Valburg in 2016.
